Let's Party Newfoundland!

This New Year's Eve promises to be one of the most enjoyable events in St. John's long and distinguished history. Millions of viewers worldwide will be watching the St. John's waterfront this year as we count down to the year 2000. Make sure you are here to experience these momentous events first-hand.

Concert on the waterfront (Debut 2000 Celebration):
Let Great Big Sea, the Ennis Sisters, Kim Stockwood, Celtic Connection, and other great bands entertain you as we count down to 2000. Newfoundland's very own Pete Soucy will emcee the concert.

Gates open at 9:00
Concert begins at 10:00

Fireworks:
Make sure you are present to witness the finest fireworks display St. John's has ever seen (let's pray for good weather).

Fireworks begin at midnight

Celebration of first light:
Cape Spear will be the place to be in the wee hours of the first morning of the new Millenium. Join thousands as they gather at the most easterly point in North America to witness the first ray of sunlight to hit our continent in the New Year.

George Street:
If you are looking for an extended party to ring in the new year, then this is the event for you. Look for St. John's' celebrated George Street to be alive an incredible 72 consecutive hours beginning December 31. Many bars on George Street and in the downtown St. John's area have been given the okay to remain open 3 consecutive days, NON-STOP!
